Electric Spark Ball Mill
Electric spark ball mill, also known as electric spark machining, is a specialized machining process typically used for the manufacture of precision parts and components. This process uses electrical current instead of machining tools to shape metal parts and components. It is a highly accurate and repeatable process, capable of producing intricate shapes and precisions parts with high detail and accuracy.
The electric spark ball mill process begins when a thin sheet of metal is clamped between two electrodes and charged with sparks. As the electrical current passes between the electrodes, it causes an arc of sparks to jump from one electrode to the other. This arc of sparks erodes away a small, precisely controlled portion of the material from the workpiece creating a slight indentation in the workpiece surface. By controlling the intensity and speed of the spark, a detailed and accurate shape can be achieved.
The most common type of electric spark ball mill utilizes a rotating electrode that causes an electric arc to occur at the tip of the electrode. This creates a small “milling” cut into the workpiece. The rotational speed of the electrode and its position relative to the workpiece vary depending on the size and shape of the feature being machined. By varying the speed and position of the electrode, a skilled machinist is able to quickly shape complex parts in the precise way desired.
A unique aspect of electric spark ball mill is its ability to mill exotic materials and hard to machine alloys. Materials such as titanium, Inconel, and Hastalloy can be machined with precise detail when using this process. These materials would normally require specialized cutting tools and expensive machining processes such as Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) or Hard Turning to machine. The cost savings to parts manufacturers this process provides is significant and makes electric spark ball mill a great advantage for many industries.
Electric spark ball mill is a precise and repeatable process. Its accuracy is only limited by the skill of the technician performing the operation. Furthermore, it does not require any specialized tooling or machines, thereby keeping costs down and making it very accessible to even small shops.
Punching Machine
Punching machines are automated machines used to produce holes or shapes in metal or other materials such as wood and plastic. The punching machine is a type of press that has been in use since the early 1800s and has been used primarily to produce metal foil, paper clips and other small items. Today, punching machines are used to produce a variety of components, including washers, gaskets, bolts, nuts, and small metal parts in the automotive, electrical and electronics industries to name just a few.
The punching machine functions off of a cammed die which produces the punches. This die is made up of two hardened steel plates that are secured together. The top plate contains the cams while the lower plate holds the dies that will produce the desired shape or hole. The die also contains a combination of smooth and angled surfaces which are used to guide the material that is to be punched.
In operation, a metal coil is placed between the two plates of the die. A ram then moves up and down squeezing the coil material against the die, thus producing a hole or shape in the material. As the ram moves up and down, the cams in the top plate press the die in the lower plate to create the correct shape or hole. It is at this point that the cam’s surface is used to guide the material through the die in a controlled manner.
Punching machines are extremely useful machines that can produce intricate shapes and holes with pinpoint accuracy with minimal setup time. This is a great benefit for manufacturing operations where quick changes and repeatable results are essential. Punching machines can be either manually operated or automated, depending on the specific needs of the operation. They are also available in a variety of sizes, making it possible to produce a wide range of different products at different production levels.
