Technical Conditions for Cast Steel Parts of Steam Turbines ZB K54038-90 Replacing JB3285-83
Steam turbines are widely used in various industries for converting thermal energy into mechanical energy to power pumps, compressors, and generators. Compared with other types of turbines, steam turbines have the advantages of high efficiency, large output rate and wide variety of applications. However, in the manufacturing process of steam turbines, one of the key elements is the cast steel parts, which must meet the specified technical conditions.
Specifically, the technical conditions of the steam turbine cast steel parts include the following aspects. First of all, it must meet the material requirements. The material used for the manufacturing should have good mechanical properties and reliable welding performance, and should meet the material requirements of national standards. Second, the process requirements should be considered. For example, the heat treatment process should be carefully monitored and controlled to ensure the production of high quality castings; meanwhile, reasonable machining process should be adopted to ensure the accuracy of the parts. Thirdly, the performance requirements should be taken into account. The cast steel parts should be able to perform in extreme environment and can sustain certain static loads, resist corrosion and heat damage to ensure the normal working of the steam turbine.
In the past, China’s national standard JB 3285-83 was adopted as the technical conditions of the steam turbine cast steel parts. However, in order to meet the needs of the industry, China has recently released a new national standard, namely technical conditions for cast steel parts of steam turbines ZB K54038-90 to replace JB 3285-83. These new technical conditions offer more stringent and comprehensive requirements in terms of material selection, process control, and performance indicators. For example, in addition to the mechanical performance requirements of ZB K54038-90, the process conditions are also strictly inspected; and in terms of performance requirements, the standard requires eight categories in total, including static strength, fatigue strength, impact strength, corrosion resistance, heat resistance, welding performance, impact toughness, and low temperature performance.
In conclusion, the new national standard technical conditions of steam turbine cast steel parts, ZB K54038-90, have replaced the previous standards, JB 3285-83. Compared to its predecessor, this new standard offers more stringent and comprehensive requirements in terms of materials, process control and performance evaluation. All these requirements are necessary and essential for ensuring the quality and reliability of steam turbine cast steel parts, and thus play an important role in ensuring the safety and normal operation of the steam turbine.
