Safety Requirement for Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Vehicle Dedicated Devices
As a type of gaseous fuel, compressed natural gas (CNG) has gradually become an important substitute for traditional fuels such as gasoline, diesel and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). CNG has low pollutant emissions, less energy consumption and other environmental benefits that makes it attractive to car owners. CNG vehicles are common on the streets and highways around the world, and the safety of these vehicles is essential for transport users, particularly in China. In order to ensure the safety of CNG vehicles, China has implemented the Technical Requirements for Compressed Natural Gas Vehicle Dedicated Devices (QC/T 245-2002).
The Technical Requirements implement safety regulations that vehicles using CNG as a tonic must adhere to. This includes rules on the design and operation of CNG vehicles, as well as requirements for the installation and maintenance of CNG dedicated devices. The standard requires that devices must meet the most stringent requirements for ensuring the safe transportation of CNG and the safe operation of CNG vehicles.
In order to ensure the safety of CNG vehicles and the users who ride them, the standard put forward a number of requirements for the dedicated devices that are used in the vehicular transport of CNG. These devices must meet requirements for tensile strength testing, welding and brazing, material selection and corrosion resistance, as well as environmental tests for ambient temperature, pressure and other factors. All CNG dedicated devices must be installed and serviced in accordance with the instruction manuals, and any maintenance or repairs must be done to the highest standards.
In addition, the standards emphasise that the quality management system of CNG vehicle dedicated device manufacturing enterprises must be in accordance with the requirements of international standards. Quality management systems should ensure that all design, production and installation processes meet the highest safety and quality requirements. The standards also require that all CNG dedicated devices must be equipped with appropriate measures that enhance the safety of consumer users, such as pressure and thermocouples.
The Technical Requirements for Compressed Natural Gas Vehicle Dedicated Devices (QC/T 245-2002) is an important step forward in ensuring the safety of CNG vehicles in China. The technical requirements provide a comprehensive framework for the design, manufacture and installing of CNG dedicated devices, and ensure that these devices meet the highest safety standards. By adhering to these requirements, CNG vehicles can be safely and efficiently transported around China, helping to improve the transport network in the country.
