Plastic Selection Guidelines
Plastic selection is an important technology for modern industry, especially for the production of automotive components.Knowing the characteristics of different plastics and its physical and chemical properties allows the best plastic selection for applications. This document provides some basic guidance on the selection of plastics.
First, the shape of the plastic parts should be considered when selecting plastic. Some plastics are more suitable for two-dimensional parts, while others are more suitable for three-dimensional parts. For example, thermoplastics are more suitable for two-dimensional parts, while thermosetting plastics are more suitable for three-dimensional parts.
Second, the nature of the plastic should be considered. Plastic materials may need to meet certain strength requirements or chemical resistance requirements, among other criteria. Carefully consider which plastic materials will best meet these requirements.
Third, the Durability of the plastic should be considered. Plastics generally provide excellent protection for resisting UV and ozone, but some plastics are more prone to deteriorating over time,or collecting dirt and dust, due to their unique chemistry and physical structure.
Fourth, the cost of the plastic should be considered. Different plastic materials have different prices. More expensive plastic materials tend to have better performance, but not necessarily the best selection for cost-sensitive applications.
Finally, the processing of the plastic should be considered. How easy is it to process the plastic material? Is it easy to shape, cut, finish, and assemble in manufacturing? These are all factors that require consideration.
In conclusion, the selection of plastics is an important part of the manufacturing process. Careful consideration of the shape, nature, durability, cost, and processing of the plastic materials will allow the best plastic to be selected for the application.
