DEUTSCHE NORM STEEL NO. & STEEL PRODUCT

Deutsche Norm (DIN) is the German national standard for engineering and technical applications. It covers steel grades and products for building construction, shipbuilding, railway and pipeline engineering, mining, mining equipment, machine tools, and aviation industries, among others.

DIN Steel No. is the German steel standard that specifies the control of steel grades, mechanical properties and chemical composition. It includes the technical requirements for the manufacture of hot rolled and cold rolled steels and profiles, steel tubes, hot rolled steel strips in coils and sheets, and hot rolled steel plates and sections for building and other engineering applications.

DIN Steel No. defines the properties of several thousand grades of hot rolled and cold rolled steel, steel tubes and other steel products, based on chemical composition and common metallurgical properties. It comprises five parts: General and Engineering, Structural Steels, Ferrous Base and Alloys, Tool Steels and Stainless Steels.

General and Engineering Steel – This part of the Deutsche Norm has twelve sections covering various steel grades and quality grades.

Structural Steels – This part of the DIN provides specifications for hot rolled, cold rolled or hot rolled + annealed products for structural applications. This part of the DIN also specifies technical delivery and agreement conditions for these steels.

Ferrous Base and Alloys – This part of the DIN defines the properties of common carbon and alloy structural steels and profiles.

Tool Steels – This part of the DIN defines the requirements and technical delivery conditions for a range of special tool steels, and also mechanical properties, chemical composition and delivery conditions of special quality steels with high abrasion resistance and toughness.

Stainless Steels – This part of the DIN specifies the technical requirements, delivery conditions, heat treatment, mechanical properties and chemical composition of a range of special stainless steels with improved corrosion resistance.

DIN Steel No. is intended to provide technical equipment for industry, commerce and for institutions for training and research. It serves as a basis for specifying and ordering steel, coordinates the German and European standards and serves as the basis for national, European and international standardization in steel-making.

DIN Steel No. is used by engineers and industrial designers to draw up the technical details of their product or the process of its manufacture. It ensures that products satisfy the safety, quality and performance requirements. DIN Steel No. is also used to specify the steel products for different purposes and intended applications in numerous industries. It is used extensively in the automotive, construction, manufacturing, mining and other industries throughout Europe.
