GB/T 12252-89 General Valve Supply Requirements

1 Scope of Application

This standard applies to general valves supplied to the Peoples Republic of China by domestic manufacturers, foreign manufacturers and traders. In case of any inconsistency between this standard and a higher-level document, the provisions of the higher-level document shall prevail.

2 Types of Valves

General valves include gate valves, globe valves, ball valves, check valves, bottom valves, plug valves, butterfly valves, and other valve types commonly used in pipelines, such as safety valves and regulating valves.

3 Design Requirements

3.1 The nominal diameter of the valve shall comply with the relevant standards. The nominal pressure shall also meet applicable requirements.

3.2 The body and parts of the valve must be manufactured in accordance with the relevant standards.

3.3 The gasket used for the valve shall be antistatic, high temperature resistant, and must comply with the relevant standards.

3.4 Valve structure materials should conform to national standards, and marking standards should be clear and complete.

3.5 The stem of the valve should be provided with an anti-static device and must comply with relevant standards.

3.6 The valve shall have a handle, a labeling plate, and a pressure seal test. The handle should be provided with a securing device.

4 Manufacturing Requirements

4.1 The valve shall be manufactured in accordance with the drawings and in accordance with the technical requirements of the manufacturer.

4.2 Valve parts and accessories should be complete and in accordance with relevant standards.

4.3 The sealing surface of the valve should be smooth and without burrs and scratches.

4.4 The valve should be submitted for pressure and seal testing before leaving the factory. The pressure of the test shall not exceed 1.2 times the maximum working pressure of the valve.

4.5 The valve shall be subjected to comprehensive performance tests, including function test, tightness test, resistance to gas/liquid corrosion test, and wear/corrosion resistance test.

4.6 Valve inspections should be carried out in accordance with applicable standards.

5 Packing Requirements

5.1 The valve shall be packed in accordance with applicable standards.

5.2 The packaging material shall have sufficient strength and appropriate cushioning effect.

5.3 The valve shall be marked with manufacturer name, model number, product name, and usage notes.

5.4 The packing shall also be provided with relevant documents, such as operation instructions and test reports.

6 Delivery Requirements

6.1 The valve must be transported and stored in accordance with national regulations.

6.2 The time of delivery of the valve should be determined when signing the contract.

6.3 The valve should be inspected and accepted according to applicable standards before leaving the factory.

7 After-sales Service

Manufacturers and traders shall be responsible for after-sales service. It includes installation, maintenance and other related services. In case of any product quality problems, manufacturers and traders shall assume responsibility for repairing and/or replacing the valves.
