Introduction

UNS S30400, UNS S30403 and S30409 are austenitic stainless steel grades which are widely used in many industries. These grades of stainless steel are characterized with the addition of Chromium and Nickel to its composition, which offers good corrosion resistance, formability and weldability. These grades are additionally resistant to atmospheric temperatures and show moderate tensile strength and good ductility.

UNS S30400 (304):

This grade of stainless steel is the most versatile and widely used grade among other grades of stainless steel. It is an austenitic stainless steel which offers excellent corrosion resistance and high strength at elevated temperatures. Additionally, this grade has a good formability and weldability and is also highly resistant to stress corrosion cracking.

UNS S30403 (304L):

This grade of stainless steel offers similar properties to those of UNS S30400 grade but offers lower carbon content which improves its weldability. UNS S30409 (304H):
