Introduction
Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) rubber hose is made with a special three-layer composite structure which includes a layer of protective gas hosing supporting a rubber inner tube and synthetic rubber outer tube combine a complicated process of nitrile-butadiene rubber production. It is a crucial part for the transport and supply of liquefied petroleum gas in order to ensure that the process is safe, secure and efficient.
This Chinese National Standard, GB 10546-89, is set in place to ensure the general performance of LPG rubber hose in both the manufacture and production of the hose itself and in terms of safety and environmental protection. It outlines the testing, inspection, materials and related requirements for LPG rubber hose.
Scope
This standard applies to the production, selection and usage of rubber hoses used for the delivery of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in order to be used as an apparatus for mounting, connecting and transferring liquids. Note that it only applies to rubber hoses or reinforced hoses manufactured out of rubber.
Testing and inspection
In accordance with this standard all rubber hoses used for the delivery of LPG must meet certain physical and mechanical requirements. As such all parts of the LPG rubber hose must pass the following tests and inspections:
1. Hardness test: the rubber sheet for this hose must be tested for hardness and tensile strength. In order to pass the hardness test, the rubber sheet must be able to stand a tensile force of 20N/m2.
2. Inspection for acid and alkali: The rubber sheet for the hose must be tested for acid and alkali levels in order to ensure that it is able to withstand corrosive liquids.
3. Pressure test: The hose must be tested for the ability to withstand pressures up to 80 bars.
4. Leakage test: The hose must be tested for leakages in order to ensure that it able to deliver liquid without any problems.
Materials
In order to meet the standards set up in GB 10546-89 all LPG rubber hoses must be made out of nitrile-butadiene rubber. This type of rubber is often chosen in order to ensure a strong and reliable hose that is able to withstand corrosive liquids, pressure, and extreme temperatures. The material must also meet the standards set up in the following Chinese National Standards:
1. GB 3536-83 – The material must meet certain requirements of watertightness, wear resistance, and bursting degree.
2. GB 1670-90 – The material must meet a tensile strength of above 38MPa at 20℃.
3. GB 879-76 – The material must be able to withstand at least one million times of unrestricted pressure test.
4. GB 1886.2-2012 – The material must be able to resist various chemical substances and is inflammable, odorless and non-toxic.
Conclusion
This Chinese National Standard, GB 10546-89, outlines the testing, inspection, materials and related requirements for LPG rubber hose. In order to meet the standards set up in this national standard, the materials used in the manufacture of the hose must pass certain tests and inspections and must meet certain requirements. As such all parts of the LPG rubber hose must pass the hardness test, inspection for acid and alkali, pressure test, and leakage test. Furthermore, the materials must meet the standards set up in GB 3536-83, GB 1670-90, GB 879-76, and GB 1886.2-2012. All of these aspects must be taken into consideration in order to ensure the best performance and safest usage of LPG rubber hoses.
