The Hong Kong Society of Accountants (HKSA) is a professional body for public accountants in Hong Kong. Established in 1921, HKSA (previously known as Certified Public Accountants Association of Hong Kong) is a not-for-profit organization that focuses on the education and training of professional accountants and on enhancing and promoting the quality of accounting and finance practices in Hong Kong.

The HKSA is the only recognized body to train and register professional accountants in Hong Kong. The main mission of the Society is to promote the highest professional standards, ethics and technical excellence of practice amongst its members. It serves as the voice of the accounting profession, providing guidance and lobbying the government on legislative and regulatory matters related to accounting and finance.

The Society plays an important role in advancing the knowledge, skills and development of members by providing comprehensive Continuing Professional Education (CPE). It also provides a platform to foster and facilitate exchange of ideas, experience and opportunities amongst members, as well as promotes friendly relationships between members and the industry.

The HKSA consists of about 15,000 individual members and companies, making it the largest association of professional accountants in Hong Kong. The members are divided into two categories – auditors and non-auditors. The former provides auditing services and the latter generally works in accounting and finance departments of public and private companies, or offer consulting services.

The HKSA recognizes the need to maintain high professional standards amongst its members and has devised a set of ethical guidelines for professional conduct. It also provides support to members regarding professional practice and how to comply with laws and regulations.

The HKSA also provides professional guidance to its members on a wide range of business and financial matters and offers a range of courses to further develop the accounting and finance knowledge of its members. It also provides members with a wide range of resources, such as books, research papers and databases.

Established in 1921, the HKSA has become an acknowledged leader in the professional accountancy field in Hong Kong. It is committed to enhancing and promoting the highest professional standards of accounting and finance practice whilst also providing its members with the support and guidance they need to continue to deliver the highest professional service. The Society is no doubt an important component of the business community in Hong Kong and will continue to contribute significantly to the growth and development of the region.
