Established in May 1999, the China International Chamber of Commerce (CICC) is an independent non-governmental business organisation and an important bridge for domestic and foreign business operations.

CICC is a member of the International Chamber of Commerce and is Consultant Member of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). Established by a number of leading companies in China, and extended with the support of various ministries, associations, and business circles both at home and abroad, CICC is an organisation engaging in all kinds of activities that further the development of international investor-producer relationships. Its headquarters are in Beijing.

The CICC serves as a platform for communication among foreign and domestic business circles and assists foreign-funded enterprises and foreign investments. Through its activities, such as promotion, research work, and seminars, the CICC promotes and facilitates contact between foreign and domestic companies, between international companies and Chinese governmental departments, and between Chinese businesses. The CICC also organises international and domestic exhibitions and various other meetings and seminars.

The CICC activities include consultancy, offering of investment opportunities and encouraging Chinese businessmen to participate in international business and trade. The CICC is committed to providing services to Chinese and foreign businessmen, maintaining fair and proper trading practices and creating an increasingly welcoming environment for foreign business in China. Additionally, CICC gives help to foreign companies doing business in China, and it encourages domestic companies to invest abroad.

The CICC plays a very active role in helping and supporting the integration of the Chinese economy with the global economy by helping foreign enterprises to understand the local market environment, providing liaison for business partnerships, helping international enterprises to participate in government tenders and other co-op activities, as well as by assisting in the planning, formulating and implementing of foreign trade and investment projects.

The CICC is also active in trying to protect the legitimate rights and interests of foreign investors and foreign-funded enterprises, and has actively supported the reforms of the Chinese legal system, especially laws and regulations regarding foreign investment.

The CICC is constantly expanding its range of activities, and has managed to cement its important role as a major platform for foreign business cooperation in China. The organisation is determined to continue to provide the business community, both domestic and international, with a platform to engage in discussions and exchange information that will help improve economic ties and safeguard mutual interests.
