Introduction

Austentic stainless steel S31683 (00Cr18Ni14Mo2Cu2) is a commonly used stainless steel grade with excellent corrosion resistance and a very high tensile strength. It has superior mechanical properties and is highly weldable.

This austenitic stainless steel has a composition of iron, 18% chromium, 14% nickel, 2% molybdenum, 2% copper and a small amount of carbon and nitrogen. The combination of these elements provides it with its outstanding properties such as good resistance to environmental and atmospheric corrosion, good resistance to high temperature oxidation, high strength and excellent formability.
