CNC Equipment Repair Example 2

Recently, a client contacted us to request assistance with the repair of their CNC equipment. The CNC equipment in question was a five axis CNC machining center featuring a rotating table, automated tool changer, and a variety of sensors for monitoring temperature, speed, and other parameters. The clients main concern was the inability to accurately control the speed of the machine, resulting in inaccurate cutting and finishing results.

After troubleshooting the machine, our team determined that the primary cause of the issue was a failing motor control board. The board in question had been in use for several years and had started to experience erratic behavior, leading to the instability in the machines speed. In order to fix the issue, we recommended replacing the board with a newer model, which offered improved precision and compatibility with the machines existing software.

The client happily accepted our proposal, and the new motor control board was ordered and installed. After the installation was complete, the team performed a series of tests to ensure that the new board was properly calibrated and configured for optimal performance. The tests revealed excellent results and the machine began to produce consistently accurate cuts.

Additionally, the team also identified several other issues that could have caused the instability in the machines performance, including worn or misaligned cutting tools, insufficient lubrication, and incorrect tool settings. We were able to provide guidance and instructions to the client’s personnel on making the necessary adjustments that would add to the machines longevity and performance.

In the end, our team was able to successfully resolve the clients issue, enabling them to continue their production operations without interruption. Furthermore, the client was educated on potential failure points within their CNC equipment, enabling them to take preventative maintenance measures and extend the life of their machinery. As such, our mission was fulfilled and the client was very satisfied with the results.
