Neutrosophy is a new interdisciplinary mathematical theory which has been developed through the combination of three broader theories, namely fuzzy logic, intuitionistic logic, and multi-valued logic. As its name suggests, the theory is intended to capture the essence of a neutral point of view, as a way of bringing both sides of a debate closer together. The basic idea behind neutrosophy is that, given enough information about a particular situation, a neutral point of view can be developed somewhere in between the two opposing sides.

This theory uses logical tools from the above mentioned theories, as well as other theories such as probability and evidence theory, to determine its ultimate neutrality. In the process of doing so, it is said to bring order to a chaotic situation by providing a middle ground on which both parties can agree.

Neutrosophic logic stems from the realization that opinions are subjective and can be based on either partial or conflicting evidence.
