Introduction
Induction sintering, also known as induction melting sintering, is a new technology in pressing and sintering of powder metallurgy parts. Developed from 1950s, the technology is widely used in powder metallurgy production due to its high efficiency and good quality of products nowadays. It mainly refers to the sintering process of materials using the heat generated by electromagnetic induction in the closed sintering furnace.
Principle
Induction sintering is based on the electromagnetic induction heating principle. Two components are needed for electromagnetic induction heating, namely the inductor and workpiece. The inductor is also called induction coil, and the workpiece is in a state of complete isolation from the power supply line. When a high frequency current is applied, a changing magnetic field is generated in the induction coil. The induction coil works as a secondary electromagnetic power source and acts on the workpiece, inducing eddy currents in the workpiece and quickly converting electrical energy into heat.
Properties
Induction sintering has the advantages of fast heating, excellent sintering quality, high productivity and reduced sintering time. It has the advantages of shortening the process, and setting uniform temperature field, constant heating temperature and good temperature stability, thus the finished product has uniform density, high mechanical properties and dimensional accuracy. In addition, induction sintering furnace can be precisely inscribed with constant temperature time and temperature, more conducive to the implementation of automatic production process.
Applicable Products
The main application field of induction sintering is powder metallurgy industry. It is mainly used for sintering ofmetal powder, alloy powder and other powder materials. It can also be used in metallic materials, magnetic materials, high temperature alloys, ferrite, electronic ceramics, light alloys, titanium alloys and other fields to process materials such as sintering, sintering, heat treatment and welding.
Equipment
Induction sintering furnace is mainly composed of induction furnace body, furnace cover and cavity body. The cavity body is installed with a set of induction coil, which needs to be cooled by water circulation, and the top is equipped with a temperature display instrument, an automatic temperature control device, a sintering temperature protection device and other temperature control devices; the furnace body and furnace cover are connected by a hinge, which can be opened and closed for convenient loading and unloading of workpiece.
Conclusion
Induction sintering is an important technology in powder metallurgy production, which has the advantages of fast heating speed, good sintering quality and high productivity. Its applicable products cover metal powder, alloy powder and other powder materials, and its application equipment is mainly composed of induction furnace body, furnace cover and induction coil, among which the induction coil needs to cool with water. With the development of powder metallurgy production, induction sintering will also focus on technological innovation and better serve this industry.
