The Walt Disney Company

The Walt Disney Company, commonly known as Disney, is an American diversified multinational mass media and entertainment conglomerate. Founded in 1923, it is now one of the biggest and most recognizable media companies in the world.

Headquartered in Burbank, California, Walt Disney is the largest media conglomerate in the world with revenues of over $52 billion in 2005, and operations that span all areas of media and entertainment, including television, films, theme parks, video games, and music.

Disney is a diversified business enterprise comprised of four main “clusters”. The first is Disneys Media Networks, which is comprised of the companys broadcast and cable television operations, network programming and distribution, the ABC Television Network, and their eight owned-and-operated stations. The second is Disneys Parks and Resorts segment, which runs the 11 theme parks, cruise lines, and 24 resorts. Disneys Studio Entertainment segment is the third, and is focused on the marketing and distribution of films, home entertainment, and theatre operations. Last is Disney Consumer Products, a business group that manages products related to Disney television, films, Disney parks, and stage productions.

Disney has come a long way since its beginning. When Walt Disney and his older brother, Roy O. Disney, founded the company in 1923, it was focused on the production of animated cartoon films and live-action short films. From there, the company has grown to become a worldwide leader in media and entertainment. Throughout its history, Disney has produced some of the most memorable and beloved films, television shows, and music ever created.

To maintain the success of its media and entertainment success, Disney has diversified into other areas such as theme parks, cruise lines, consumer products, and home entertainment. These areas have helped to propel Disney to prominence and success.

The companys theme parks, in particular, have become major tourist destinations and have helped transform Walt Disney into a major global brand. Disney currently operates 11 theme parks and resorts around the world, including the popular Walt Disney World and Disneyland resorts in the United States, Tokyo Disney in Japan, and Disneyland attractions in Paris and Hong Kong, among others. The theme parks provide the company with significant revenue, as well as loyal customers.

Since its beginnings, Disney has always been dedicated to creating innovative content and providing quality entertainment experiences. Walt Disney, who passed away in 1966, said “If you can dream it, you can do it.” This has become the guiding philosophy for the company today.

In the 21st century, Disney is no longer just an entertainment company, but also a beacon of innovation. From its cutting-edge technology and breakthroughs in streaming video, Disney has stayed true to its roots of pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.

Today, The Walt Disney Company is one of the world’s most successful organizations and one of the most recognizable brands in the world. The company’s name is synonymous with both family-friendly entertainment and corporate success. Whatever the future holds for Disney, one thing is certain: the iconic brand is here to stay.
