Processing performance of 1Cr17Ni7 (AISI301) austenitic stainless steel
The standard designation of 1Cr17Ni7 (AISI301) austenitic stainless steel is AISI 301 stainless steel. Its performance is better than 0Cr19Ni9 (AISI304) steel, ranking second in the stainless steel. Due to its good cold forming performance, in addition to annealing, it can also be used without heat treatment. It has Anti-high temperature performance and sometimes can be used at a temperature of up to 800°C. But the temperature should not exceed 1050°C to keep a good corrosion resistance.
This kind of stainless steel is not suitable for welding, welding parts should be cast microstructure. Due to its poor heat resistance, it is easy to form sensitization when welding and its corrosion resistance is decreased under the condition of 425-815°C. Therefore, the use of such stainless steel is limited in the respective places.
1Cr17Ni7 is a kind of high Cr-Ni austenitic stainless steel. The content of C is less than 0.15%, the content of Si is less than 0.75%, the content of Mn is less than 2.00%, the content of Cr is 17-19%, the content of Ni is 6-9% and the content of S is less than 0.030%. It has maximum corrosion resistivity and the highest mechanical strength and ductility. The toughness decreases after quenching, so it has limitation in the generally mechanical processing process. The strength of austenitic stainless steel is more than 10 times stronger than brass, more than 4 times stronger than aluminum and more than half stronger than carbon steel. It is also a kind of non-magnetic stainless steel because it contains low magnetic steel elements (magnetic permeability <1.02).
The tensile strength of 1Cr17Ni7 (AISI301) austenitic stainless steel is up to five times higher than that of annealing of the same material. Its yield strength and elongation decreased after annealing. Its yield strength and tensile strength are 655MPa and 960MPa respectively. Its elongation is more than 40%. The toughness is also higher than that of annealing. The bend and impact test is also very good. Its hardness is about HB150-200 (HV400-500).
