Coking Industry Association

The Coking Industry Association (CIA) is the official industry body for the coking industry, representing companies from all over the world that produce coking coal, coke and related products. Our membership comprises a diverse range of companies from major coking coal producers to plants that produce a range of downstream products using coking coal as input or feedstock.

The Coking Industry Association was established in 1994 to promote and protect the interests of the industry, by providing advocacy in the face of government, both federal and state, and raising awareness of the industry’s key issues, both in Australia and internationally. We provide a forum to facilitate communication, understanding and co-operation between members and the industry.

Our main priorities are to ensure that our members are represented in all relevant forums and legislative bodies, such as the World Trade Organisation, and to ensure that the industry complies with all relevant national and international regulations and codes of practice. We also provide a range of services to our members including information resources, professional development and networking opportunities, and access to specialists and advisers in areas such as environmental management, legal advice and health and safety.

The Coking Industry Association also plays a key role in supporting and promoting the industry by keeping abreast of industry developments, organising educational and training seminars, and assisting in the development of new technologies, safety and environmental regulations for the industry.

We are dedicated to keeping the coking industry viable and competitive in an ever-changing global market, representing the industry at regional and international trade events, and working with companies to develop new opportunities.

Our ultimate goal is to ensure that the industry is sustainable and competitive, while maintaining a safe and healthy working environment for all its employees. The Coking Industry Association is committed to serving the coking industry, and through its membership provides essential resources and expertise to its members.
