It was a hot, sunny day in summer and we were at the beach. The sand was warm under our feet and the waves crashed into the shore creating a wonderful sound. We walked down the beach together, looking for the perfect spot to set up our chairs and umbrella.
It didn’t take us long to locate the perfect place. The sand was so soft and the shade from the palm trees made it the perfect spot for a summer afternoon. We put up our umbrella and settled in for a few hours of relaxation. Immediately, we started to feel the stress of the day start to melt away.
As we sat there and enjoyed the warmth of the sun and the sound of the waves, our minds began to wander. We started talking about the future, our dreams and our plans. We discussed the importance of looking beyond the present and learning to live our lives with an eye on the future.
We shared stories with one another, laughed, and talked about our families and friends back home. We played in the water, built sandcastles, and went for a swim. We continued our talks even as it started to get dark. Our conversation gradually slowed and we remembered that it was time to head home.
We packed up our things and started walking back. As we turned one final corner, we looked out and saw the horizon. The orange and red clouds seemed to be waving goodbye to us one last time and we smiled. The day had been perfect and the conversations meaningful.
We got in the car, happy and content. We knew that the things we had talked about that day would stay with us always and that something had changed in us. It was time for us to go back home, but a part of us would stay there forever.
