Test Method of Dissolved Acetylene Cylinder Pressure Test According to GB13003-91

Acetylene gas is a kind of flammable and explosive gas, so safety should be taken seriously when testing the acetylene cylinder. If not, it is likely to cause significant destruction and loss of life. This test method of dissolved acetylene cylinder pressure test according to GB13003–91 is established to ensure the safe use of dissolved acetylene cylinders.

1 Principle

This test method is to inspect whether the cylinder is leakage-free, and the pressure in the cylinder does not exceed a limit value. The pressure of the dissolved acetylene cylinder is tested, and when the hydrostatic pressure is applied, the test pressure is not greater than double the working pressure.

2 Test Equipment

2.1 A calibrated pressure gauge with a range of up to 25MPa and an accuracy of 0.5 class;

2.2 Appropriate hydraulic pressure devices and hydraulic pressure mediums;

2.3 Appropriate connectors, flexible metal hoses and other accessories.

3 Test preparation

3.1 Cylinder preparation before the test

3.1.1 The acetylene cylinder should be placed in an open, ventilated, impervious and well-lit place, and it should be ensured that the surrounding area is clean and tidy during the test.

3.1.2 Before the test, the cylinder should be hanged upright, the valve should be opened, and then released several times to disperse the gas inside;

3.1.3 After the valve is fully opened, close it, and then remove any foreign objects stuck in it, clean the plugs and seats;

3.1.4 When there is no combustible material inside the cylinder, the acetylene cylinder should be aired in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 5.4 of GB25066.

3.2 Pressure detection measures

3.2.1 When testing with hydrostatic pressure, the pressure should not be too high, so as to avoid damage to the cylinder;

3.2.2 Before testing, the cylinder valve should be in the closed state. When the pressure is tested, the valve should be opened slightly;

3.2.3 During the test, if the pressure changes dramatically, the pressure should be observed again to find out the cause;

3.2.4 After the test is completed, the pressure should be released gradually.

4 Test steps

4.1 The cylinder should be hung upright;

4.2 Connect the cylinders pipeline and pressure gauge according to the provisions;

4.3 Check the accuracy of the pressure gauge;

4.4 When the acetylene cylinder is tested with hydrostatic pressure, first use the transparent tube to observe whether there is bubbles in the cylinder, then observe whether there is any water leakage from the pressure gauge connection part, and then slowly raise the pressure, the pressure should not exceed 1.05 times the working pressure, and the time should not exceed 10 minutes;

4.5 When the pressure is stabilized, the reading of the pressure gauge should be read;

4.6 After the test, the pressure should be released gradually, and other inspection and acceptance tasks should be completed according to the corresponding regulations.

5 Test Report

Filling in the acetylene cylinder test report requires the following information:

5.1 Pressure test organization and test personnel;

5.2 Name and number of cylinder, filling medium, nominal pressure, volume;

5.3 cylinder diameter and height;

5.4 Test results, including test pressure, reading of pressure gauge, test conclusion, etc.

6 Test conclusion

According to the provisions of GB13003–91, when the hydrostatic pressure is applied to the acetylene cylinder and the pressure is not greater than double the working pressure, leakage phenomenon is not observed and the measured pressure does not exceed 1.05 times the working pressure, it means that the pressure test of dissolved acetylene cylinders is passed. Normally, test report and test conclusion should be drawn up for record.
