Strategic Planning Office
The Strategic Planning Office serves as the clearinghouse and action arm for the Universitys long-term and medium-term strategic objectives. As part of the Presidents Office, the Strategic Planning Office is charged with developing and implementing plans, policies, and programs to ensure the University achieves its strategic objectives.
The Strategic Planning Offices primary role is to develop planning documents such as the Universitys five-year strategic plans, annual planning goals, and long-range facility plans. These documents outline the Universitys mission and vision, objectives, access and affordability goals, outcomes, and strategies. The Strategic Planning Office is responsible for coordinating the input of key stakeholders — including administrators, faculty, staff, students, and other campus constituents — in the development of these plans.
In addition to plan development, the Strategic Planning Office works to ensure that the Universitys plans are implemented. To that end, the office is involved in the strategic allocation of departmental and University-wide resources. The office also develops and coordinates communication strategies to ensure that plan objectives are understood by the University community and assessed for effectiveness. As part of this process, the office evaluates institutional efficiency and effectiveness and implements strategies for improvement.
The Strategic Planning Office works to increase the Universitys visibility and reputation through the creation and maintenance of relationships with corporations, alumni, donors, and other external constituents. The office is also responsible for organizing and hosting events such as visioning sessions, town hall meetings, and conferences.
Furthermore, the office supports the colleges and departments by providing planning and assessment consultation services. Finally, the office serves as the electronic records repository for official University documents, ensuring that the documents are stored securely and easily accessible.
In order to accomplish these tasks, the Strategic Planning Office is staffed by a combination of full-time professional staff and student interns. The personnel are responsible for data gathering, market research, and collecting feedback on proposed plans through surveys, focus groups, and other means. Involvement in all phases of planning and assessment is critical to the success of the Strategic Planning Office.
Ultimately, the Strategic Planning Office is committed to supporting the Universitys overall mission by helping to ensure that strategic plans and initiatives align with that mission. The Strategic Planning Office works to maximize the Universitys resources in support of the ultimate goal of creating an outstanding educational institution.
