Cold rolling mill roll material

Cold roll mill roll materials are one of the most important components of cold roll forming machines and consist of austenitic stainless steel, high speed steel, High chromium casting steel, alloy tool steel and other important materials, each of which has different characteristics.

1. Austenitic stainless steel

Austenitic stainless steel is the most commonly used cold roll mill roll material. Its surface is smooth, hard and strong, and it has good corrosion resistance, low temperature resistance and excellent machinability. The grade of austenite stainless steel can be divided into 3xx, 4xx and 6xx. Austenite stainless steel has good hot and cold plasticity, but low wear resistance and medium compressive strength, so it is generally only used for printing process rolls.

2. High-speed steel

High-speed steel has excellent wear resistance, heat resistance and red-hardness. It is widely used in driving rolls and back-up rolls. High speed steel usually refers to bearing steel, high speed structural steel and vanadium high speed steel. The 3xx series steel, represented by 3Cr2W8V and 3Cr2MoVAF, is suitable for high speed rolling of steel sheets, heavy plates and wide strips.

3. High chromium casting iron

High chromium cast iron roll has high hardness, good wear resistance, good heat resistance and good chemical stability, so it is widely used in rough and medium rolling. Its grade can be divided into 20-30% chromium content such as MC1, MC2, MC3, and high chromium content such as MC4 and MC5, 60-70% hyper chromium content such as MC6, MC7 and V80, and 70-80% chromium content such as MC9, MC10 and MC11.

4. Alloy tool steel

Alloy tool steel is widely used in bearing support, deflection guide and other rolls. Alloy steel should also be used for rolls for special purposes, such as rolls for press breakup, texturing and calender rolls. The grades of alloy tool steel include 7Cr, 8Cr, 8CrMoV, 9Cr, 10Cr and 10CrMoV. According to the requirements of use, various combinations of chemical compositions can be obtained.

In conclusion, cold roll mill roll materials have a variety of application areas. In order to achieve the best rolling effect and improve the service life of the rolls, it is necessary to choose the appropriate materials according to the characteristics of the rolled materials and product specifications.
