The Shenyang Research Institute of Metallurgy is affiliated to the Metallurgical Industry Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China. Established in October 1952, it is the first comprehensive design institute of metallurgical industry in China.
The Institute is located in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, and has a construction area of more than 170,000 square meters. There are 1,500 people in total, of which about 1,200 are professional technicians, including more than 100 people with senior professional titles, 200 with doctoral degrees and 800 with bachelor degrees or higher.
The mission of the Institute is to provide technical services for Chinas metallurgical industry, undertake major projects of metallurgical industry in China, and promote the sustainable development of Chinas metallurgical industry. The Institute has three research directions which are process and equipment design, new materials and new technology, and finance and economics.
The Institute focuses on the research and development of advanced technological solutions, so as to improve the construction level of metallurgical industry in China. The research of the Institute covers a wide range, including design and research of high-grade integrated steel plants, sintering plants and their auxiliary plants, non-ferrous metal smelting plants and their supporting plants, new construction ceramics and non-metallic products, and new energy materials technology.
At the same time, the Institute pays attention to cooperation between industry and academia, combines theoretical research and practical projects, and discover new scientific and technological achievements. The Institute has developed over 220 engineering projects, including 35 national key engineering projects, and made a number of key technological achievements and original innovations.
In recent years, the Institute has vigorously developed technological transformation and production scale expansion projects, actively promoted enterprise technology structure upgrades, and introduced advanced management concepts and practice methods. The industrial technology level of enterprises has been greatly improved and the economic benefits have been significantly increased. At present, the Institute has obtained 14 national patents, international patents 2, various awards, including 4 China Patent Awards.
The Shenyang Research Institute of Metallurgy will continue to adhere to the concept of people-oriented, and strive to become a key research and development institution for metallurgical industry in China. It will make continuous efforts to promote the research and development of metallurgical industry technology, and make its own contribution to the development of Chinas metallurgical industry.
