Auto-Screw Machine Operation Procedure
1. Worker Preparation and Safety
Before beginning to operate an auto-screw machine, the worker must make sure they are wearing the appropriate safety equipment. This should include: hard hat, safety goggles and gloves, and hearing protection. Appropriate clothing should also be worn; avoid loose clothing, long sleeves, and long pants to avoid potential hazards. The worker should also be sure to read and understand the safety instructions for the specific machine being operated.
2. Operating the Auto-Screw Machine
When operating an auto-screw machine, the worker must first check the machine to make sure it is in proper working order. This includes ensuring there are no damaged or worn parts, that the machine is securely mounted to the floor, and that all guards and safety devices are in place. The worker should also familiarize themselves with the controls on the machine; all buttons and knobs should be clearly labeled and accessible.
Once the machine has been checked, the worker should load the stock material (i.e. screws, nuts, and bolts) into the hopper, and secure the material with the setscrews on the hoppers flanges. The worker should then adjust the stop nuts and plates on the screw machine, as well as the speed control knob, to the settings required by the particular type of stock material being used.
The worker should then turn on the power supply, and press the start button to begin the screwing process. Throughout the operation, the worker should pay careful attention to the materials progress through the machine and make any necessary adjustments to ensure the material is being properly and safely cut. The worker should also inspect the finished product for defects or irregularities, and make any necessary adjustments or repairs. Once the production run is complete, the worker should turn off the machine and unload the finished product.
3. Cleaning and Maintenance
After operating an auto-screw machine, the worker should clean and inspect the machine for any dirt or debris, and lubricate any moving parts as necessary. All machine parts should be checked for wear or damage, and Care should be taken to properly align and secure all parts before the machine is restarted. Most machines should also be inspected by a qualified professional on a regular basis (at least once a year) to ensure that all parts are in proper working order and that any necessary repairs are carried out.
These are the basic steps for operating an auto-screw machine. While the steps may vary depending on the specific machine being operated, following these guidelines will allow the worker to safely and efficiently produce high-quality results.
