MARTENSITIC STAINLESS STEEL 4CR13

Martensitic stainless steel 4Cr13 is a martensitic stainless steel with a high hardenability. It is mainly used to produce various types of high strength and wear-resistant parts, such as turbine rotor blades, pump parts, mechanical seals, jigs, etc.

Physical properties

The density of 4Cr13 is 7.75 g/cm3 at room temperature, which is higher than the general carbon steel density of 7.85 g/cm3. However, its relative density is only 0.88 because its density is lower than that of austenitic stainless steel. Hardness, 4Cr13 is a high hardenability steel, in quenching and tempering state of HRC45-55, good heat treatment performance in order to obtain higher hardness.

Tensile strength

Tensile strength is also a key factor in assessing the performance of a steel material. 4Cr13 stainless steel has a higher strength under quenching and tempering conditions than other martensitic stainless steels, with a minimum tensile strength of 600MPa and a maximum tensile strength of 800MPa.

Magnetic properties

4Cr13 stainless steel is a magnetic material, the magnetism of ferromagnetic material is mainly caused by the spin magnetic moment of electrons in atoms. Generally, the greater the magnetic susceptibility, the magnetism is stronger. The magnetic permeability of 4Cr13 stainless steel is relatively large, and can be attracted by ordinary magnets.

Impact toughness

Impact toughness is an important part of the mechanical performance of stainless steel. The impact toughness of 4Cr13 stainless steel is better than that of other martensitic stainless steels, because 4Cr13 contains a large amount of Cr which can improve the impact toughness of stainless steel. After heat treatment, the impact toughness of 4Cr13 stainless steel with a thickness greater than 10mm can reach 34J.

Resistance to corrosion

4Cr13 stainless steel is a martensitic stainless steel with a relatively low corrosion resistance. But, with the addition of other elements, such as Ni and N, its corrosion resistance can be improved significantly.

Wear resistance

4Cr13 stainless steel has a good wear resistance. After heat treatment, the wear resistance of 4Cr13 stainless steel is better than that of other martensitic stainless steels, and its wear resistance can reach 180N.

Heat resistance

The heat resistance of 4Cr13 is good, and its maximum working temperature is 700-800C. In addition, its oxidation resistance is also strong, and there is little risk of oxidation at a temperature of 400C.

Conclusion

Martensitic stainless steel 4Cr13 is a martensitic stainless steel with good physical properties, such as high density, high hardness, high tensile strength and good wear resistance.4Cr13 also has good heat resistance, magnetic properties, and corrosion resistance. It is widely used in the production of high strength and wear resistant parts.

Martensitic stainless steel 4Cr13 refers to martensitic stainless steel containing 13% chromium. It has good wear resistance and improved corrosion resistance. By increasing the amount of carbon compared with 12Cr13 and 12Cr13MoV steel, its quenching hardness can be improved.

From the perspective of performance, 4Cr13 stainless steel generally has comprehensive mechanical properties, wear resistance, low-temperature toughness, and excellent corrosion resistance. Its comprehensive mechanical properties are similar to 12Cr13 and 12Cr13MoV steels. Further strengthening of 4Cr13 is obtained by adding vanadium and carbon, especially molybdenum and vanadium, resulting in improved abrasion resistance and better surface hardness.

From the point of view of performance indexes, the physical properties of 4Cr13 stainless steel are as follows. Its density is 7.75g/cm3, melting point is 1450-1550℃, Thermal expansion coefficient(20-100℃) is 11.65x10-6/℃, the modulus of elasticity is 205gpam, thermal conductivity is 16.8W(m·K)-1, vapor pressure is 5.9mPa and so on.

4Cr13 stainless steel has a high resistance to oxidation, mainly because chromium is an important ingredient and can promote the formation of a dense oxide film on the surface of the steel. This oxide film resists the corrosion of the medium and greatly improves the corrosion resistance of the steel. 4Cr13 steel has a high strength, toughness and plasticity, and is widely used in various mechanical parts.

In summary, 4Cr13 stainless steel has good wear resistance and improved corrosion resistance, and its physical properties include a density of 7.75g/cm3, a melting point of 1450-1550℃, a thermal expansion coefficient of 11.65x10-6/℃, a modulus of elasticity of 205gpam, a thermal conductivity of 16.8W(m·K)-1 and a vapor pressure of 5.9mPa etc. It also has a high resistance to oxidation and is widely used in various mechanical parts because of its high strength and toughness.
