Anshan Iron and Steel Group Co., Ltd., formerly referred to as Ansteel, is a Chinese state-owned steel making business group. Its headquarters is located in Heping District, Anshan, Liaoning Province. Its total output of iron and steel ranked second in the whole Chinese iron and steel industry, as of 2018.
Ansteel was founded and held as part of the Ministry of Metallurgic Industry in 1955. In 1986, it became a holding company, being part of the Central Government and the Liaoyang Municipal Government. Its main operational locations are divided into seven provinces and regions, such as Liaoning, Hebei, Shanxi, Hunan, Xinjiang, and Inner Mongolia. Some of the major products of Ansteel include flat rolled steel, cold rolled steel, hot dip galvanized steel, coated steel, steel tubes, composite steel, stainless steel and others.
Ansteel could always maintain a sustained and steady growth. The annual crude steel production rate rose from 5.11 million tons in 1999 to 53.35 million tons in 2018. The total output of iron and steel was 51.12 million tons in 2018. It is the sixth largest global steel producer and the second largest in China.
Ansteel has since expanded, diversified, and modernized its business portfolio beyond steel making. It has established a successful presence in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei metropolitan region and its peripheries, and is continuously seeking further expansion into western and central China. As well as producing steel, Ansteel is also active in many other sectors. It has a diversified portfolio of investments, including but not limited to real estate, banking and finance, power generation and distribution business, carbon materials, automotive and low-carbon vehicle components, and port services.
