China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC) is an industrial group focusing on the research, development, production and trading of ships, marine engineering machinery and industrial equipment, as well as the provision of related services. Founded in 1949, the China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC) is a conglomerate of six major national shipbuilding enterprises and sixteen subsidiaries. With branches in domestic and international markets, CSIC is among the most important state-owned enterprises in the country and is the national leading enterprise of Chinas shipbuilding industry. Today, CSIC has built and sold over 10,000 vessels to customers around the world, including the worlds largest deep-sea oil drilling platform.
The main business covers shipbuilding, ship repair, maintenance, modernization and sales, marine engineering, petrochemical equipment production, nuclear power equipment research and development, transportation equipment manufacturing and other related industries. In addition to its core business, CSIC also engages in offshore engineering services, environmental equipment, engineering and technical services and electronic automation engineering.
CSIC has actively participated in the international market, such as the development, production and operation of the Zhuhai Bridge, a major project between Zhuhai and Macau, in which China has fully utilized a complete set of shipbuilding technology for the first time. In 2012, CSIC successfully completed the worlds largest monohull drilling rig Zhongyou 180, which will become the worlds most advanced mobile offshore drilling platform. The CSIC comprehensive strength ranks among the best in Chinas shipbuilding industry, with strong quality assurance capabilities sustaining its high standards.
In 2014, CSIC carried out a comprehensive reform to further optimize its organization and improve its management, striving to become a world-class marine engineering and shipbuilding enterprise. CSIC has also made great efforts to develop cutting-edge technologies in the field of shipbuilding, with the national “mask technology” as the basis.
