Power characteristic curve of DC electric arc furnace
DC electric arc furnace, a type of electric furnace, is widely used in the metallurgical industry and is also an important equipment in modern steelmaking. In order to achieve high quality production, the furnace should be operated in an appropriate electric power system. The power characteristic curve is an important parameter to estimate the capacity and power system of the electric furnace. It can help to determine the current that the furnace can carry and the operation time unit. In this article, the power characteristic curve of electric arc furnace is discussed and the power parameters are described.
The power characteristic curve of electric arc furnace is the relationship between the load current of electric arc furnace and the load power. According to the figure below, at the beginning of the power characteristic curve, when the load current is zero, the load power is zero. When the electric current increases, the power of the arc furnace gradually increases, reaching a peak when the current is at a certain value, which is called the arc power. This is a key parameter of the power characteristic curve. When the current increases further, the power of arc furnace gradually decreases, when the current is close to the rated current, the value of the load power is the rated power. As the arc power is an important parameter of the power characteristic curve, the obtained parameters can be used to calculate other power parameters such as arc voltage, arc resistance and arc length, which are the key parameters of the arc furnace.
The power characteristic curve of DC electric arc furnace can be obtained by simulation and experiment. In the simulation, several parameters such as arc power, arc voltage, arc resistance, arc length and rated current are determined in advance, and the load current is then varied to obtain the corresponding theoretical load power. The experiment is carried out by making the arc furnace operate in an adjustable electric power system. The current is gradually increased and the load power is obtained when the current is at the specified value. The power characteristic curve is then obtained according to the measured data.
The power characteristic curve of the DC electric arc furnace is an important parameter to estimate the capacity and power system of the electric furnace. The obtained power parameters can be used to calculate the other parameters of (electric arc furnace)arc furnace. By simulating or testing the power characteristic curve, the rated power of electric arc furnace can be accurately obtained, which will provide a reference for the design and operation of electric power system.
