ElectroGalvanized Cold Rolled Thin Iron Plate
ElectroGalvanized Cold Rolled thin iron plate (EGC) is the cold-rolled thin iron plate with galvanized layer on its surface that has been patented by Japans Sumitomo Metal Industries Ltd. in 1988. This galvanized layer is formed by electrochemical method, that makes the surface of EGC significantly higher than that of other cold-rolled thin iron plates, and can extend the life span of the thin iron plate.
Introduction
EGC is produced by cold-rolling thin iron plates to a required thickness and further galvanizing them. The maximum thickness is 8mm. The galvanized layer on the surface of EGC is outside of the cold-rolled thin iron plate, and keeps the shape of a thin iron plate from the inside. Therefore, it does not worry about the problem of buckling or warpage after galvanizing, and it is highly durable for a long time. Also, there is no problem that the galvanized layer on the surface of the thin iron plate will be peeled off or the breaking of the thin iron plate.
Specifications and Characteristics of ElectroGalvanized Cold Rolled Thin Iron Plate
Due to its special galvanized layer, EGC has various characteristics that are superior than ordinary cold-rolled thin iron plates. The specifications are in accordance with GB/T6985-1986. Some of the most outstanding characteristics of EGC are listed below:
1. High durability: EGC is known for its high durability for a long time due to the galvanized layer not being peeled off or broken.
2. Excellent corrosion resistance: The galvanized layer on the surface of EGC provides a strong protection against corrosion.
3. Smooth and beautiful surfaces: EGC has a smooth and beautiful surface, which can enhance the appearance of the products that are manufactured with these thin iron plates.
4. Outstanding performance in welding: The galvanized layer on the surface of EGC provides a strong protection against welding distortion and various welding defect, to make the welding process more stable and reliable.
5. Easy to process: EGC has good formability and is relatively easy to process.
6. Environmentally friendly: EGC is more eco-friendly than ordinary cold-rolled thin iron plates since it produces less waste during the galvanizing process.
Applications of ElectroGalvanized Cold Rolled Thin Iron Plate
EGC is mainly used for hot dip galvanizing, mainly in home appliances, sheet metal products, automobiles and construction materials industries. Due to its excellent corrosion resistance, it is also very suitable for civil and engineering structures, such as in gas and water pipelines and as electrical components. In addition, its low oxide film thickness is also favourable for colour painting, powder coating and other surface treatments.
Conclusion
EGC is the latest development in cold-rolled thin iron plate, and its excellent performance has exceeded that of ordinary cold-rolled thin iron plates. Besides the excellent features mentioned above, it also has a relatively low-cost production process and excellent performance in various welding processes. With the rise of the demand for environment friendly products, the application of EGC can only be increased in the future.
