GB 9252-88 Cylinder Fatigue Test Method
GB 9252-88, issued by the Standardization Administration of the People’s Republic of China (SAC) - is a national standard that specifies the test method for determining the fatigue life of cylinder bodies. This document also outlines any requirements a prototype must meet in order to pass the fatigue test.
This standard applies to cylinders and pressure vessels used in various applications such as LPG, natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas and hazardous materials. The scope of application is cylinders and pressure vessels with a design pressure of up to 40 Mpa.
The basic purpose of the GB 9252-88 standard is to ensure the safe operation and longevity of cylinder vessels produced. In order to ensure the safety and reliability of cylinders with a design pressure greater than 0.1 MPa, the fatigue testing method specified in GB 9252-88 must be adhered to.
This standard specifies the fatigue testing and measuring methods for cylindrical bodies. It includes test parameters such as temperature, pressure and other operating conditions, as well as the inspection and acceptance criteria of the cylinder.
The test is conducted in two phases, a pre-test and a fatigue test. First, the work pieces must be tested and inspected, and any defects must be properly repaired. Next, the samples are subjected to fatigue tests as specified in the GB 9252-88 standard. During the test, parameters such as temperature and pressure must be monitored throughout the test. Upon completion of the test, the samples must be inspected and accepted according to the criteria outlined in the GB 9252-88 standard.
The fatigue test of the cylindrical body is a series test. The test process is divided into the following five phases:
1. Test preparation
2. Sample preparation
3. Pre-test inspection
4. Conducting the test
5. Data analysis
The fatigue life of the test specimen should not be less than the design life specified. In addition, the test data must also meet the acceptance criteria outlined in GB 9252-88 before it can be deemed as an acceptable result.
The national standard GB 9252-88 provides an effective way for the determination of the fatigue life of the cylinder body. It outlines the test methods, acceptance criteria and requirements for fatigue testing. The implementation of the standard is crucial to ensure the safe production and operation of cylinders used in various applications.
