1 Introduction
In the current industrial production, the grinding process is a common method for processing materials. Grinding is carried out by using a rotating grinding wheel as the cutting tool, which is usually used to process materials with high hardness and strong abrasive resistance. The abrasive wheel grinding process is generally composed of a grinding wheel, a grinding wheel spindle, and a workpiece or fixture.
During the grinding process, due to the influence of many factors such as the type of abrasive wheel, the rotation speed of the spindle, the feeding speed of the grinding wheel, and the pressure and temperature of the working environment, the wear of the abrasive wheel is more easily caused. In addition, due to frequent replacement of the abrasive wheel, the defects of the abrasive wheel may lead to the blocking of the abrasive wheel. The blocking of the grinding wheel not only affects the accuracy of the workpiece, but also shortens the service life of the abrasive wheel and increases the cost of the working environment. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the mechanism of blocking the abrasive wheel in the grinding process and take corresponding preventative measures.
2 Characteristics of Abrasive Wheel Wearing and Blocking
2.1 Characteristics of Abrasive Wheel Wear
Abrasive wheel wear is a complex wear process caused by wear and tear, fatigue, abrasive and thermal damage. In the process of abrasive wheel wear, the grain of the abrasive wheel is gradually worn away, and the bonding agent weakens, resulting in a decrease in the strength of the abrasive wheel. In addition, the wear phenomenon is also affected by various factors, such as the speed and pressure of the grinding wheel feed, the roughness and density of the grinding wheel and the materials of the workpiece. Therefore, it is necessary to properly select the abrasive wheel, pay attention to the use status of the abrasive wheel, and develop rational use and maintenance methods.
2.2 Characteristics of Abrasive Wheel Blockage
The blockage phenomenon of the abrasive wheel refers to the phenomenon that the abrasive wheel cannot be rotated during the grinding process due to the different effects of external forces on the abrasive wheel. Its main cause is the difference in strength between the loosened bonding agent and the grain of the abrasive wheel due to the wearing phenomenon. Moreover, the abrasive wheel blocking phenomenon is also affected by many external factors, such as cooling liquid, temperature, humidity and atmospheric pressure of the working environment. Therefore, it is important to select a working environment with stable external conditions, pay attention to the use status of the abrasive wheel and take corresponding measures to avoid the blocking of the abrasive wheel.
3 Abrasive Wheel Blocking Mechanism
3.1 Grinding Temperature
Grinding temperature is one of the main factors affecting the abrasive wheel blocking phenomenon. The grinding temperature of the grinding process is usually determined by the grinding pressure and the contact area between the grinding wheel and the workpiece. When the grinding pressure increases and the contact area increases, the grinding temperature of the workpiece increases and the abrasive wheel is over heated, which reduces the strength of the abrasive wheel bonding agent and accelerates the wear of the abrasive wheel. At the same time, due to the generation of heat, the material of the workpiece softens, affecting the grinding effect, leading to the blocking of the abrasive wheel. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure that the temperature of the grinding process is stable, and generally the grinding temperature of the workpiece should not exceed 150℃.
3.2 Overload
In the grinding process, too much grinding pressure and too large contact area will also cause the abrasive wheel to block. This is because the grinding pressure increases with the increase of grinding pressure, resulting in uneven force distribution of the abrasive wheel. At the same time, due to the increase of the contact area, the temperature of the abrasive wheel increases, thus accelerating its wear and tear. If the grinding pressure is too large, it will result in the blocking of the abrasive wheel, which will affect the accuracy of the workpiece and reduce the service life of the abrasive wheel. Therefore, it is necessary for operators to strictly control the grinding pressure, so as to avoid the blocking of the abrasive wheel and ensure the accuracy of the workpiece.
3.3 Inappropriate Abrasive Wheel
Another factor affecting the abrasive wheel blocking phenomenon is the improper selection of the abrasive wheel. After the abrasive wheel is used for a long time, the strength of the grooves and the bonding agent decreases, resulting in the loosening of the abrasive wheel. In this case, if the wrong type of abrasive wheel is used, it will not only fail to grind the workpiece, but also cause the abrasive wheel to block. Therefore, it is necessary to choose the correct type of abrasive wheel according to the parameters of the workpiece and the requirements of the processing, so as to avoid the blocking of the abrasive wheel.
4 Conclusion
Grinding process is a common method for processing materials. The blocking of the abrasive wheel is a common problem affecting the accuracy of the workpiece processing. This paper briefly discussed the characteristics of the abrasive wheel wearing and blocking and the blocking mechanism of the abrasive wheel, and found that the blocking of the abrasive wheel is mainly caused by the grinding temperature, the overload and the inappropriate abrasive wheel. Therefore, it is necessary to take corresponding preventive measures, such as properly selecting the abrasive wheel and controlling the rotation speed, in order to effectively avoid the blocking of the abrasive wheel and improve the working accuracy of the workpiece.
