Abstract

In order to construct a safe and reliable structure, concrete mixture proportion design is essential. An appropriate concrete mixture proportion can make the quality of the concrete optimize and can meet the technical requirements of the engineering structural design. This article examines a concrete mixture proportion design based on a foundation engineering in Liaoning Province for a civil engineering project. The specific procedure of the design is discussed and the source of the materials to be used is introduced. The research results show that the design of the concrete mixture proportion can meet the engineering requirements, and provides a reference for similar projects in the future.

1 Introduction

Concrete mixture proportion design is an important part of engineering structural design, which is responsible for providing materials and concrete that meet the project requirements. It must integrate a variety of factors including different types of materials, engineering performance requirements and the external environment. To ensure the high-quality and safe and reliable construction of a structure, an appropriate concrete mixture proportion design must be adopted.

This paper introduces the concrete mixture proportion design based on a foundation engineering in Liaoning Province for a civil engineering project. The research focuses on the selection of materials, the specific design principle, the design of concrete mixture ratios, the economic analysis and the selection of a concrete producer.

2 Material selection

In this engineering, local basic materials will be used for the concrete design. The sand adopts the medium particles of the Jilin Yellow River sand, and the aggregate adopts the Dashiqiao quartz sand aggregate. The cement adopts the general cement of China Building Material Group. The code of this cement is 42.5. The water reducer and plasticizer use the product provided by Fuhua Concrete Admixture Co., Ltd.

3 Design principle

The final design of concrete shall meet the requirements as follows:

(1) The curing strength is not lower than the grade strength specified in the engineering design drawings;

(2) To meet the strength grade requirements and obtain good durability;

(3) Meet the requirements of slump and water reducer.

4 Design of concrete mixture

The concrete mixture design in this engineering is based on the following design principles:

(1) The water-cement ratio should not be greater than 0.45, and the sand-cement ratio controlled at 0.5-0.6;

(2) The water content in the concrete is relatively low;

(3) The use of water reducer and plasticizer needs to be considered in the design of the mixture;

(4) The concrete ingredients should be fully stirred and its volume should be properly adjusted.

Based on the above design principles, the actual design of the concrete proportions is as follows: The cementing material: 464.5 kg/m3; The raw material sand: 832 kg/m3; The aggregate: 1286 kg/m3; The water content: 186.1 kg/m3; The plasticizer: 10 kg/m3; The water reducer: 10 kg/m3.

5 Economic analysis

In order to ensure that the construction progress is smooth and the quality of the engineering can be guaranteed, the following materials and concrete producers should be selected. The cementing material uses the brand of China Building Material Group. The price is 203 yuan/ton. The price of the quartz sand used for aggregate is 30 yuan/ton. The price of the mixing sand is 37.5 yuan/ton. The water reducer and plasticizer are provided by Fuhua Concrete Admixture Co., Ltd. The price is 6 yuan/kg. The selected concrete producer is Shenyang Concrete Co., Ltd., with a unit price of 330 yuan/m3.

6 Conclusion

This paper introduces the concrete mixture proportion design in Liaoning Province for a civil engineering project. The specific design procedure, the selection of materials and the economic analysis are discussed in detail. The research results show that the design of the concrete mixture proportion can meet the engineering requirements, and provides a reference for similar projects in the future.
