The elevator steel wire rope is a necessary component for vertical transportation systems. It is used to raise and lower elevators and other suspended loads. Steel wire rope cores can be either fiber cores or independent wire rope cores (IWRCs). Fiber cores are made from natural or synthetic fibers and are used when flexibility is the primary requirement. IWRCs are made from a strand of wires buffed around the main strands of thewire rope. IWRCs are used when additional strength is required and when the rope must withstand high tensile, torsional, and dynamic loads.
The performance of steel wire rope is influenced by your selection of a number of factors. Chief among these are the wire diameter, the number of strands in the rope, the length and lay of the strands, and the quality and type of the core.
You should select cable by different specifications. If the elevator design with single or double sheave ,than 1.5×19-IWRC is best . If elevator design with more than two sheaves, 1×19-IWRC is best..There is a variety of steel wire ropes, grade torque protected (GTP), coated, etc., and you should select based on specific application.
The wire rope must be inspected regularly to determine the amount of wear, breaks, internal damage and corrosion. Any steel wire rope that shows more than 0.5 percent of the total wires from the core broken or worn through must be replaced.
