Coal is an important energy source in China. The China Coal Science Research Institute (CCSRI) is a leading research center in the field of coal sciences.
The CCSRI was established in 1975 as a state-run research institution focused on the investigation and utilization of coal resources, including the development of advanced technologies and engineering applications to increase the efficiency, productivity and environmental protection of both Chinas domestic and international coal industry. The CCSRI also conducts research into the production and consumption patterns of various Chinese industries and the development of a comprehensive energy environment. As part of CCSRIs programming, they also engage in large-scale projects in order front the utilization of coal resources, including both basic and advanced research and applied studies.
The CCSRIs research focuses on the areas of coal mining operations and engineering, coal cleaning and preparation technology, coal-fired power plants and utilization of coal for power generation, fuel technology, utilization of coal resources for synthetic materials, coal extraction from coal seams, and the development of advanced engineering tools and software for coal quality analysis and prediction. Additionally, the CCSRI contributes to the advancement of international coal research and development through exchanging information, personnel training and sponsoring international conferences and symposia.
In terms of its accomplishments, CCSRI has made major contributions towards improving Chinas coal resource utilization, published widely in peer-reviewed journals and anthologies, and has collaborated widely with leading international research institutes and organizations in diverse industries.
The CCSRI has also achieved noticeable results in the fields of comprehensive utilization of coal resources (including recycling and reuse), coal-to-chemicals, coal-to-transportation energy, and advanced low-emission coal-fired power generation technologies and operation management. The advances the CCSRI has made in the development and utilization of coal energy and resources has, in turn, made significant contributions towards economic and social development of China.
In addition to their research and development activities, the CCSRI also offer consulting services to various government entities, including Chinas Ministry of Power, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, National Energy Administration of China, and China National Petroleum Corporation. The CCSRI also serves as an advisory board member for various national and international organizations and projects.
Today, the CCSRI remains at the forefront of scientific research and development in the utilization of coal resources in China, and its work continues to promote innovative solutions that contribute to the economic and social well-being of the nation.
