1 Introduction
The manufacture of aluminum and aluminum alloy pipes using the method of drawing or rolling is a popular method of fabrication in the industrial sector. This method is known as GB 6893-86 and is set out in the Standard for Industrial Aluminum and Aluminum Alloys Rolling (Pulling) Pipes in China. This standard lays down standard requirements and regulations for the production of these types of pipes and covers all aspects of the process, including fabrication, product quality inspection and delivery.
2 Processes
The production process of the GB 6893-86 involves the manufacture of aluminum and aluminum-alloy pipes with the use of a rolling technique. The raw materials (aluminum or aluminum-alloy slab) are first cut and shaped into a cylindrical shape by a process called ‘cold drawing’. This is done by rolling a steel or other roller onto the slabs and applying pressure on it, forcing the material to form into a tube.
The tubing is then entered into a rolling mill and subjected to high pressure, which then shapes and sizes the tube. The entire manufacturing process of the pipes is completed in two stages, both of which are monitored and inspected for product quality before every delivery.
The pipes then undergo tests for hardness, strength and other mechanical properties, after which the pipes are annealed before being shipped out.
3 Quality Control
The products manufactured from GB 6893-86 meet the highest levels of quality and strict inspection methods are carried out at each manufacturing step. The method of production dictates that the quality is checked and certified according to the regulations of the standard. The process also requires certain tests to be performed and the data is collected, tested and reported to ensure that each product meets the standards required.
Furthermore, the production equipment and the quality control procedures are regularly monitored and improved in order to guarantee that only high-quality products are produced.
4 Conclusion
The GB 6893-86 standard is a technical regulation which has been developed and approved by the industrial sectors responsible for the manufacture of aluminum and aluminum alloy pipes. It provides a comprehensive guide to the production process, including components, quality control and testing processes.
Production of these materials with the manufacturing method described in the standard meets the highest levels of quality and all products are rigorously inspected for product quality before every delivery. Strict quality control systems are in place to ensure that only the best products are produced according to the technical regulation.
