Steel grade is the ultimate factor of making up the structures and the parts in Romania. Steel grade would determine the properties and the performance of the structures and the parts as well. Therefore, it is really important to pick up the right steel grade when making up the structures in Romania.

The popular steel grade used in building up the structures in Romania. is S235JR, which is a low carbon, high tensile strength structural steel. This steel has been widely used in making the structures and the parts in Romania due to its strength and toughness properties. This steel grade has a mean tensile strength ranging from 360 to 510 MPa, and a mean Brinell hardness ranging from 170 to 210 Hv. Additionally, the yield strength (maximum allowable stress under tension) of this S235JR steel grade is between 225 and 275 MPa. Moreover, the combination of strength and toughness makes this grade perfect for building or stiffening structures or parts in Romania.

Besides S235JR steel, there are some other popular steel grades used in making the structures in Romania. Those are S355J2, S355J2+N, S455J0, S355K2, and S355K2+N. S355J2 is higher strength steel grade than S355JR (MAX. 490 MPa compared to 360 MPa). It is a steel for general purpose structural applications due to its good weldability and machinability. S355J2+N is the same grade as S355J2 but its bending and welding properties are even better than that of S355JR. S355K2 is an impact resistant steel grade as it is designed with a charity of minimum yield strength of 355 MPa, a tensile strength of 470 to 630 MPa and a minimum elongation of 20%. Moreover, this steel grade also contains a minimum impact energy value of 40 J at -20℃.

The last two mentioned steel grades are the S455J0 and S355K2+N. S455J0 is a low carbon, high tensile strength structural steel. It is identical to S355JR but it has a slightly higher yield and tensile strength. This steel has a minimum total elongation of 10% and a minimum impact energy of 27 J at -20℃. S355K2+N is an advanced, impact resistant steel grade which has higher strength and excellent weldability properties. It also has an improved average bendability than that of S355J2+N.

To sum up, the steel grades used in the structures or parts in Romania can be divided into six types. They are S235JR, S355J2, S355J2+N, S355K2, S355K2+N, and S455J0. All of these grades are suitable for constructing the structures and the parts in Romania. Depending on the structure or the part type, different steel grades should be chosen to ensure the strength, toughness and weldability of the structures or the parts.
