Introduction

In welding, the proper execution of fillet welds is important for ensuring quality, strength and esthetics. The convexity, leg length difference and size of the fillet weld, of course, directly affect the shape, strength, toughness and fatigue fatigue. According to GB / T 5118 (1995), when welding with low alloy steel welding rod, the convexity of the convex corner weld and the difference between the two leg lengths of the corner bead weld should meet the technical requirements.

Convexity

The degree of convexity of the low alloy steel butt welding wire convex corner weld should meet the technical requirements of GB/T 5118 (1995). According to the standard, the convex angle of the weld should not exceed 3mm per 100mm of the weld length or 2% when the width of the fillet weld is equal to or greater than two times the fillet weld throat depth. Convexity is the difference between the actual contour of the weld and the theoretical contour of the weld. The actual contour is higher than the theoretical contour. The higher the convex angle, the greater the convexity.

Leg length difference

The difference between the two legs of the convex corner weld of the low alloy steel arc welding should also meet the standard requirements of GB/T 5118 (1995). According to the standard, the difference of the length of the legs should not exceed 1 mm for each 100 mm of the weld length or 1% when the width of the fillet weld is equal to or greater than the twice of the throat depth of the weld. The difference between the leg length of corner weld is that the difference between the maximum leg length and the short leg length. The smaller the difference between the two legs of the weld, the better.

Conclusion

GB/T 5118 (1995) stipulates that when welding with low alloy steel butt welding electrodes, the convexity of the convex corner welds and the difference between the two leg lengths of the corner weld should meet the technical requirements. The convex angle of the weld should not exceed 3mm per 100mm of the weld length or 2% when the width of the fillet weld is equal to or greater than two times the fillet weld throat depth. The difference between the legs of the corner weld should not exceed 1 mm for each 100 mm of the weld length or 1% when the width of the fillet weld is equal to or greater than twice the throat depth of the weld. By strictly controlling the welding of the low alloy steel arc welding electrodes, the convex angle and the difference between the two leg lengths of the corner bead welds can meet the standard requirements so as to ensure the satisfactory quality of the welds.
