Abstract
This article is to discuss the size, shape, weight and allowed tolerance of GB 9787-88 hot rolled equal-angle steel.
GB 9787-88 hot rolled equal-angle steel is made from carbon structural steel. It is widely used in construction engineering and mechanical components. The sizes, shapes, weights and allowed tolerances of GB 9787-88 are stated in this article. In this article we also discuss how to measure the steel elements, such as length, angle, straightness and edges.
Size is the important parameter of GB 9787-88 hot rolled equal-angle steel. According to GB 9787-88, the steel size range is 20mm to 250mm, both the length side and thickness side should be within this range. The minimum double bended angle is not less than 135° and the two legs of one angle steel should be equal size.
The allowed tolerance of GB 9787-88 hot rolled equal-angle steel includes weight, thickness, length, angle and straightness. The tolerance of specific element should not exceed the limit of the GB 9787-88. For instance, the minimum thickness tolerance should not exceeded 0.5mm, the maximum total length tolerance should not exceed 6mm, the minimum double-bended angle is not less than 135°, the maximum allowable total length of the two legs of an equal-angle steel is not more than 0.5mm.
In addition, there are some requirement for the edges of GB 9787-88 hot rolled equal-angle steel. Generally, the edges should be neat no burrs. Quality controlling personnel should check the edges carefully, if necessary, they should grind or trim.
In conclusion, GB 9787-88 hot rolled equal-angle steel has great strength and flexibility, it has excellent performance in mechanical components or building engineering construction. The size, shape, weight and allowed tolerance should be controlled strictly in the production process, the edges should be neat without burrs. Thus the quality of GB 9787-88 hot rolled equal-angle steel can be guaranteed.
