Cold rolled strip steel
Cold rolled strip steel is a kind of steel product that is processed into strips by rolling mill. After cold rolling, the rather than hot rolled strip steel are of great complexity and fine structure, and its mechanical and physical properties are higher than those of hot-rolled strip steel. Cold-rolled strip steel is one of the raw material of electroplating industry and stamping industry on the market.
Cold rolling is a process wherein a steel slab is heated to a suitable temperature in a recrystallization furnace, passed through a rolling mill and then cooled. This process turns the steel into “ribbons” of different thickness and sizes, or coils. As the steel is rolled, it is reduced in thickness. The end result of the process is a thinner, stronger, tougher and more consistent steel material.
In terms of production process, Cold-rolled strip steel is divided into two kinds: Casting-rolling and Direct Rolling. It is related to the original state of steel used for rolling. Casting-rolling is the process of heating the original heating the raw material ingot to the suitable rolling temperature and rolling into the steel strip after pouring the liquid steel into the continuous casting billet. It is mainly used for producing thin strips with thickness below 2mm. Direct rolling is to prepare the original billets, cut into suitable sizes and heat them to the suitable rolling temperature, then roll into the strip steel.
The advantages of cold rolled strip steel are higher than that of hot rolled strips. The finished product has high accuracy, significant improvement in surface quality, workability, and dimensional accuracy; and with great cost savings. The cold rolled strip steel is used in the automotive industry for auto body parts, in the railroad industry for rails, in the construction industry for reinforcing bars and in the agricultural industry for grain storage equipment.
Due to the differences between cold rolled strip and hot rolled strip, their applications are different. Cold-rolled strip steel is mainly used for making parts with higher accuracy, better surface quality and more complex shape. And hot-rolled strip steel is mainly used for low-pressure fluid transportation and structural parts and so on.
In conclusion, cold rolled strip steel is one of the raw material of electroplating industry and stamping industry on the market.
