1. Operation processes

First, the operators should check whether the protection furnace is intact, whether the bottom of the furnace is scattered with slag, whether the heat is sufficient, whether the gaps between the bricks are uniform, whether the door of the furnace is reliable.

1.1 Start up

(1) Open the gate of the hopper and adjust the material level indicator at a reasonable position. Open the air inlet, then open the secondary air inlet between the throat and the furnace, start the fan and open the fuel port. When the material begins to dribble into the furnace, the fan can be gradually adjusted to the rated operation conditions.

(2) When the fuel port is fully opened and the amount of primary air is adjusted to the standard, the protection furnace can be ignited and the secondary air port can be opened quickly.

1.2 Burning

(1) When the flame is burning reliably and the temperature rises continuously, additional materials can be added. When the material falls, the flame should be adjusted accordingly to ensure the accurate amount of fuel is used to control the furnace temperature.

(2) The temperature should be monitored to keep the temperature within the specified range. If necessary, the amount of primary air can be adjusted, the amount of secondary air can be adjusted, or the fuel port can be adjusted.

(3) The slag in the hearth should not be allowed to remain for a long time, and should be removed when the temperature reaches 900-1100°C.

1.3 Shutdown

When the burning is completed, the material should be stopped and the fuel port should be closed. After the temperature in the hearth is below 700°C, the secondary air port is closed first, then the primary air port is closed. Finally, the hopper is closed and the fan is halted.

2. Precautions

2.1 The feeding speed should be uniform and the feeding amount should be accurate.

2.2 The slag should be smoothed out frequently in order to ensure the uniform heat distribution.

2.3 There must be no gaps between the bricks.

2.4 Pay close attention to the temperature and fire colour in the furnace to prevent overburning or incomplete combustion.

2.5 The fuel port should be opened and closed accurately, and never be forced open or close.

2.6 After the furnace is closed, it must be allowed to cool to a safe temperature before the personnel can work inside.

2.7 Fire extinguishing equipment should be prepared in case of fire.
