X20CrMoV12-1 Introduction

X20CrMoV12-1 is an ultra-high strength stainless steel grade with excellent corrosion resistance, creep resistance and strength properties at high temperatures. It is mainly used in areas such as aerospace, automotive, medical and offshore industries.

X20CrMoV12-1 is a martensitic steel which is packaged in the form of solution annealed condition and suitable for the hot workability. It has the highest strength of any of the martensitic stainless steel grades. This steel grade is mainly used in the aerospace, automotive and medical applications, but also for offshore applications.

X20CrMoV12-1 has great oxidation resistance properties at both normal and elevated temperatures and provides good wear resistance, toughness and strength when exposed to a range of temperatures. The high chromium content also provides outstanding corrosion and pitting resistance.

X20CrMoV12-1 Chemical Composition

X20CrMoV12-1 is an alloy comprised of 18-20.5% chromium, 0.2% max molybdenum, 12-14.5% vanadium, and the balance being iron with the addition of trace elements of manganese, copper, selenium and phosphorus.

X20CrMoV12-1 Mechanical Properties

The mechanical properties of X20CrMoV12-1 depend on the heat treatment for annealing or hardening the material. It exhibits excellent tensile properties when annealed with a yield strength of 690MPa and a tensile strength of 780-930MPa. Additionally, it has a toughness rating up to 40J/cm2 and a micro hardness of HRC 40 after being quenched and tempered.
