Design Requirements for Stamping Molds

Stamping molds are widely used in industry and often play an important role in improving production efficiency, accuracy and cost effectiveness. Good stamping dies should have high precision, long life and good toughness. According to the requirements of stamping die design and manufacturing, the following requirements should be met:

1. Stamping die design should satisfy the principle of economy. The overall structure of stamping die should directly and effectively use the power of press and ensure fast stamping, so that excellent performance of the product can be achieved while the cost of the die is minimized.

2. Selection of sealing parts and adhesives should conform to design parameters, and all the parts should be compatible.

3. The structure and arrangement of contact surfaces between the die and the press, the die keeper and the governing parts should be designed to ensure the position accuracy of stamping die and reduce the wear of components.

4. Reasonable arrangements should be made for dismountable, replaceable and adjustable parts, facilitate the inspection and repair of dies and reduce the number of dismountings or assemblies of die components for stamping, so that production benefits can be maximized.

5. The structure and arrangement of the locking parts should be easy to handle and reliable, and should be adjustable to reduce the wear of the parts.

6. Selected parts should have stable performance, which can withstand the shock and vibration of pressing operations.

7. Attention should be paid to the convenience of maintenance and inspection for wear or damage of key parts of the die and proper protection should be provided during operation of the press.

8. Complete data should be available for all the proven parts, and their performance must meet the specified requirements.

9. Reasonable allowance should be made if the product size is subject to change. The design should take into account the material of press, forming process and subsequent process requirements of the stamping die.

10. The drawings should provide accurate dimensions to facilitate die processing and evaluation. Technical information should be provided when establishing the die proposal and complete die data should be available.

11. In order to ensure the safety of operator during stamping, the design should eliminate hidden dangers, such as sharp edges and corners and unsecured components.

In summary, the design of stamping die should meet the requirements of precision, economy, safety, convenience and integrity. It should take into account the material, forming process and subsequent process requirements, to ensure that the stamping die can work efficiently and effectively.
