Taiyuan coalfield is a key coalfield of Shanxi Province in north-central China, which is located in the central part of the Datong- Taiyuan Coal Basin and covers an area of about 7454 square kilometers.
The Taiyuan Coalfield has abundant coal resources, rich in high-grade coal measures, and is one of the important energy bases in China. The total coal resources in the region are estimated at 10.2 billion tons, and the proven reserves are 8.774 billion tons. Among them, the main coal-producing area is Jinnan Coalfield and Pinglu Coalfield. The average coal seam thickness is 0.7-1.5m, which has a flat or gentle dip, and the main coal rank is medium-high.
In Taiyuan Coalfield, the annual coal output accounts for more than a quarter of Shanxi Provinces coal output and more than 20% of Chinas. The region has seven major mines, including Pinglu and Haoliang Mine, which produce more than 10 million tons of coal each year.
At present, high-lump coal reserves account for more than 60%, which is suitable for coal ball briquetting. The Tangshan Coal Power Co., Ltd. has purchased high-quality coal from the coalfield and the local chemical industry has purchased large quantities of high-quality coal for the production. The high-lump coal consists mainly of ash and silicon content higher than that of most coals, so it is widely used for coking and power generation.
The development of Taiyuan Coalfield is accompanied by the successful exploitation of large-scale coal resources, which not only brings great economic benefits but also greatly promotes the simultaneous development of technology and environmental protection. With the introduction of advanced mining technologies and the construction of a modern mining system, mining safety has been effectively improved, mining waste emissions have been effectively reduced, and the coal resource utilization rate has been significantly improved. In addition, the development of Taiyuan Coalfield is favored by the countrys energy policies, so investors are attracted to invest and develop related projects, driving the coalfields coal industry to further develop in a healthy and orderly manner.
