Chinese Petroleum and Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) Guangzhou Petroleum Branch is a regional branch office under the corporate headquarters in Beijing. It is responsible for oil and gas exploration and production, refining and marketing of petroleum products, as well as petrochemicals and other chemicals in Guangdong Province.
Sinopec Guangzhou Petroleum Branch was founded in December, 1982 with the original name of South China Petroleum Exploration Company. It was renamed Guangzhou Petroleum Company in December, 1992. The name of current Sinopec Guangzhou Petroleum Branch was adopted in March, 1995. During all these years, the Guangzhou Petroleum Branch has gone through rapid development and become an important part of the Sinopec, the leader in China’s energy industry and one of the Fortune Global 500 companies.
At present, the core business of Sinopec Guangzhou Petroleum Branch is focusing on oil and gas exploration and production, refining and marketing of petroleum products, petrochemicals and related services. Apart from vigorously developing crude oil and natural gas exploration in Guangdong, Sinopec Guangzhou Petroleum Branch is also committed to research and development of new petroleum exploration technologies, production optimization and carbon capture storage.
In terms of refining and marketing, Sinopec Guangzhou Petroleum Branch has over 20 refining and sales branches in the region with a number of oil depots and associated facilities. It has built up a comprehensive supply network covering all cities and counties in Guangdong, providing high quality petroleum products such as gasoline, diesel and petrochemicals to the market.
