Beijing, the capital of the Peoples Republic of China, is the political, educational and cultural center of the country. Beijing has a long history which dates back to 1045 BC, during the Western Zhou Dynasty. Beijing was ruled by the Ming and Qing dynasties before becoming the capital of Peoples Republic of China in 1949.

The climate of Beijing is a continental monsoon climate. Winters are cold and dry, with an average temperature of -7°C in December and January; summers are hot and humid, with an average temperature of 27°C in July and August.
