The metal mechanical properties of carbon steel alloy steel electron beam welds

Electron beam welding technology is an important welding process. It can weld almost all kinds of metal materials. Under the same conditions, the welding speed and efficiency of electron beam welding are higher than those of other welding processes. Carbon steel alloy steel electron beam welds have many advantages, such as good heat preservation, small welding deformation and strong airtightness. The behavior of metal materials during the welding process is different from that during the non-welding process, and the mechanical properties of carbon steel alloy steel welding seam will also change. Therefore, it is necessary to study the metal mechanics properties of various welding seams such as carbon steel alloy steel electron beam welds

The influence of welding process on the metal mechanical properties of carbon steel alloy steel electron beam welding is mainly reflected in two aspects. Firstly, the heat generated by the electron beam welding process causes the change of the physical and mechanical properties of the welded joint. In electron beam welding process, because of the large energy concentration, high welding speed, many layers can be welded at the same time which will generate a large amount of heat, which will cause the changes of metallographic structure, phase composition, mechanical and physical properties of welding joint. Secondly, due to the high welding speed of electron beam, the heat of welding joint is difficult to be released, which will cause the residual stress at welding joint and reduce the strength and blade level of the welded joint.

Therefore, the study of the metal mechanics properties of carbon steel alloy steel electron beam weled is of great significance for the welding quality and direction of future development. The metal mechanical properties of carbon steel alloy steel electron beam welds consists of mechanical properties, such as tensile strength, bending strength, impact toughness, etc. In order to study the influence of electron beam welding on the metal mechanical properties of carbon steel alloy steel parts, mechanical tests such as tensile strength, hardness, bending strength and impact toughness were conducted on the electron beam welded parts and the spot welded staples. The results were compared and analyzed.

It is found that the mechanical properties of carbon steel alloy steel electron beam welds are affected by the welding parameters, such as welding current, melt pool temperature and melt pool size. The mechanical properties of the welded joints can not be guaranteed if the welding parameters are not appropriate and the electron beam welding is not good. For example, when the welding current is too low, the melt pool size cannot meet the design requirements. At this time, the mechanical properties such as bending strength and impact toughness of the welded joints will be reduced. On the other hand, when the welding current is excessively high, too much heat accumulation will occur at the welding seam, which will cause the decrease of the mechanical properties of the welded joint, such as tensile strength, bending strength and impact toughness. Therefore, the appropriate selection and adjustment of welding parameters are of great significance for the improvement of welding quality and the guarantee of metal mechanical properties of carbon steel alloy steel electron beam welds.

In addition, the heat input in welding process also has certain influence on the metal mechanical properties of carbon steel alloy steel electron beam welding. It is found that under the same welding conditions, increasing the heat input in welding will cause the embrittling of the welded joint, that is, the reduction of tensile strength and impact toughness, but it is beneficial to the increase of corrosion resistance and wear resistance. Therefore, when welding metal materials such as carbon steel alloy steel with electron beam welding, the heat input needs to be reasonably adjusted according to the welding purpose.

In conclusion, the metal mechanical properties of carbon steel alloy steel electron beam welds have great influence on the quality and performance of welded components. Therefore, when using the electron beam welding process, the welding personnel should select the right welding parameters and adjust the heat input in welding process. In addition, the metal mechanical properties of carbon steel alloy steel electron beam welds should be tested and measured to ensure the quality of welded components.
