Founded in August 1984, China Three Gorges Second Construction Engineering Co., Ltd. (hereafter referred to as C3G2CE) is one of the predecessors of China Three Gorges Group Corporation Limited and is a key state-owned construction enterprise listed in the national Plan of Large State-owned Enterprises Restructuring. It has headquarters in Yichang City of Hubei Province with two bases in Wuhan and Chongqing respectively and thirty branch companies across thirteen provinces and cities.
As a general contracting enterprise, C3G2CE is principally engaged in engineering contracting and its affiliated business, including being commissioned to do BOT and BT projects, designing, consulting and project management as well as other construction-related services. Furthermore, it has made remarkable achievements in engineering construction for hydropower station and reservoir, thermoelectricity, road and bridge, and other related industries.
In terms of transportation infrastructure, C3G2CE has acted as the main contractor for several outstanding projects including the Nantong section and Tianshan section ventilation of Sichuan-Tibet highway，the and Gonghe extension line of Yunnan-Bangladesh railway as well as the construction of the China-Nepal Highway, Yichang Yangtze River Bridge and Qujing New Bridge in Yunnan Province.
Speaking of energy projects, C3G2CE has participated in the construction of cascaded hydropower stations including the Xiangjiaba Hydropower Station, the ships’ lift of Three Gorges Dam, the power stations at Jiuwanxi on the Minjiang River, Shipenghe on the Wujiang River and Huangtuling on the Hejiang River, as well as the Gonghe Xinjiang Wind Power Station and various thermoelectricity projects in Chongqing.
Regarding industrial projects, C3G2CE has carried out excellent construction for the Coking Plant of Yili Prefecture and the Acetic Acid Plant of Gansu Province in China and the trans-China pipelines connecting the central and western regions, equipped with several bridges, tunnels and hydropower energy stations.
The company has also heavily prioritized the protection of natural environment and resources as it has acted as the key contractor for several restoration and environmental improvement projects including the Amur sturgeon protection trunk line, Yaliu fish pass along the Yangtze River and the Jianhe Water Diversion Project.
Since its establishment, C3G2CE has taken out more than 70 national and provincial awards, including four awards from the Ministry of Construction and three awards from the Ministry of Water Resources.
