Kawasaki Steel Corporation Artificial Intelligence Mixing Coal System
Kawasaki Steel Corporation is taking a major step in pushing the boundaries of artificial intelligence to create a more efficient, safe and eco-friendly coal-mixing system in the production of steel. Leveraging its knowledge and expertise, the company has developed an AI-based coal-mixing system that utilizes advanced sensors to capture data from coal feeders and mixers in real time, which is then used to optimize the coal mixing process. This new system, called the AI-Mixing Coal System (AI-MC) allows for more accurate and consistent blending of coals, providing the steelworks with the highest quality of ingot material that can be produced.
The AI-MC system is comprised of three core components: sensors, software, and an AI-driven control system. The AI-MC system uses advanced sensors to capture data from coal feeders and mixers, which is then sent to the AI-driven software for analysis. The software interprets the data, and processes it to optimize the coal mixing process. Algorithms developed by the software are then used to fine-tune the coal mixing parameters in order to achieve the optimal amount of coal particles, which ensures that the steelworks receives the highest quality of steel ingot material that it can produce.
The AI-MC system offers a cost-effective way to boost the quality of product that a steelworks can produce, while saving energy and raw materials at the same time. Compared to traditional coal mixing systems, the AI-MC system can reduce the amount of energy used per ton of steel production by up to 40 percent. This can lead to significant cost-savings for the steelworks, as the reduction in energy usage translates directly into lower production costs. Additionally, the AI-MC system helps to preserve resources as it can reduce the amount of raw coal needed to produce a single ton of steel by as much as 10 percent.
This reduction in energy and resource usage also helps to decrease the carbon footprint created by the steelworks. Decreasing the energy usage associated with the production of steel can lead to decreasing greenhouse gas emissions, resulting in a cleaner, greener steel production process.
Kawasaki Steel Corporation’s AI-MC system is paving the way for the future of artificial intelligence and steel production. The development of a more efficient and eco-friendly method of production is essential to creating a sustainable future. With its ability to reduce energy, raw material, and carbon emissions, the AI-MC system is helping to lead the way in creating a greener, more efficient steel manufacturing process.
