Optimizing Ultra-thin Sheet Punching Die Structures

With the development of Chinas automotive industry, ultra-thin sheets are widely used in car body parts. The punching process of ultra-thin sheets mainly refers to stamping die process, which needs to form a metal sheet into a pre-designed shape by compressing it through pre-processed opening on the die. The basic structure of punching die is composed of die shoe, bolster, punch, stripper, guide pin, return pin, bushing, etc. The overall performance of punching die is mainly affected by the structure of the die, materials used in the die and processing technology.

In order to improve the punching performance of ultra-thin sheet and extend die life, the following optimization methods can be used.

1. Choose the appropriate type of die. The characteristics of the ultra-thin sheet mainly include its excellent ductility, which can be well adapted to various molding processes. The suitable die should be selected based on the different thicknesses and shapes of the sheet to be punched. During the choice of die, the mold strength, surface finish and overall service life should be taken into consideration.
