Robert Sillerman is a major player in the entertainment industry. He is the founder, chairman, and CEO of SFX Entertainment, Inc., a global powerhouse in the music, sports, and live entertainment industries. He has a long history of success, having founded the influential radio company, SFX Broadcasting, and the modern television company, FX Networks.
Sillerman first got his start in the media and entertainment industry back in the 1970s when he was an artist manager. He managed acts such as KISS, Gladys Knight and The Pips, and others. In 1993, he became the founder and CEO of SFX Broadcasting Inc., a publicly traded radio and television broadcasting company. With Sillerman at the helm, SFX went on to own and develop more than 200 radio and TV stations across the United States. He then sold the company in 1999 for more than $2 billion.
Sillermans next venture was FX Networks, a company he founded in 2003 to focus on developing modern television and digital media. He quickly turned FX from a small startup into one of the most influential media companies in the United States. During his time at FX, the company consistently achieved record ratings and broke new ground in original programming. Following the success of FX, Sillerman sold the majority of the company in 2014 for $3 billion.
In 2012, Sillerman founded SFX Entertainment, Inc. SFX is a global live music, sports, and entertainment programming company that owns and operates popular music festivals and venues around the world. In two short years,SFX became the worlds leading promoter of electronica and dance music events, boasting over 2,000 annual events. The company quickly expanded and began sponsoring and running large-scale events like the Electric Zoo and Tomorrowland music festivals, as well as touring with top acts like Afrojack, Avicii, and others.
