The 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China
The 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China was held in Beijing on November 8-14, 2012. During this significant event, the delegates reviewed the development of the Chinese Communist Party since the 17th national Congress and set out long-term strategies and goals for the future.
The congress was led by General Secretary Hu Jintao and attended by over 2,000 delegates from across the country. It was also attended by leaders of political parties and social organisations from other countries, representatives from the diplomatic corps, and journalists from the international media.
The congress began with participants singing the national anthem and ended with a press conference to the world by Hu Jintao. The participants spent the seven days discussing proposals, amendments, and the road map for the future.

The 18th National Congress proposed to build a well-off society in a comprehensive manner and lay the foundation of building a moderately prosperous society in all aspects by 2020. Furthermore, it was proposed that the Communist Party of China should strive to maintain a good relationship between the government, society, and industry, and strive to realize the harmonious development of the political, economic and cultural fields.
The congress highlighted the importance of creating a harmonious socialist society. Beijing was instructed to establish value systems, legal systems, and mechanisms to support the harmonious development of the economy, culture and society.
The congress also passed resolutions concerning global affairs. It was proposed that the Communist Party of China should continue to advocate international peace, development and cooperation, and strive for the establishment of a new international order. It will continue to concentrate on building friendly relationships with other countries, safeguard and improve the international order, and make active efforts to build a harmonious and neighbourhood.
The 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China is one of the most important events in the history of China. It laid the foundations for the future development of the country and set the political targets and guidelines for the Chinese government.
